Introducing Herbal Medicine

Herbs have been used as medicines throughout history, and by every civilization, whether primitive or advanced. Herbal medicine is not a single science. Every continent, clime and region has its own methods of diagnosis and treatment, its own medicinal plants and substances, and its own methods of preparing and administering those medicines.

European herbal medicine is generally traced back to the ancient Greeks. It was adopted by the Romans and carried throughout Europe and the rest of the Roman Empire. Because of widespread trade, it included many herbs from thoughout the Empire.
